For healthcare professionals — reference only. This page is a brief summary, not medical advice and not a substitute for official labeling or clinical judgement. Always verify before prescribing or dispensing.
Overview
Beta-blockers oppose the bronchodilator action of levosalbutamol and may provoke bronchospasm. Acebutolol is relatively beta-1 selective, but selectivity is lost at higher doses and the effect is greater in asthma or COPD.
Mechanism of action
Pharmacodynamic antagonism at beta-adrenergic receptors.
Clinical management
Monitor respiratory status and response to levosalbutamol. Avoid the beta-blocker in patients with asthma, or use a cardioselective agent at the lowest dose if one is essential.
