Indications
Mécanisme d'action
Acts as a saline osmotic laxative. Poorly absorbed phosphate and sodium ions stay in the bowel lumen and draw water into it by osmosis. The extra fluid softens stool, distends the bowel and stimulates peristalsis, which leads to evacuation.
Posologie adulte habituelle (résumé de la notice)
Heartburn with acid indigestion: dissolve 5 pellets under the tongue 3 times a day at onset of symptoms until relieved or as directed by a doctor; adults and children
Grossesse et allaitement
- Grossesse
- Safe Rectal enemas and occasional oral doses act mainly in the gut and are acceptable in pregnancy for constipation or bowel preparation when needed. Large oral bowel-prep doses can cause fluid and salt shifts and kidney injury from phosphate; use only if the procedure is needed.
- Allaitement
- Safe Phosphate and sodium are normal milk components, and milk sodium is tightly regulated. LactMed: one or two oral bowel-prep doses add little phosphate to milk, so breastfeeding need not be suspended; a phosphate enema needs no special precautions.
Effets indésirables signalés
