Как действует
Semi-synthetic cephalosporin administered as prodrug. Hydrolyzed by esterases during absorption and distributed in circulating blood as active cefditoren. Bactericidal activity results from inhibition of cell wall synthesis via affinity for penicillin-binding proteins.

Chronic Bronchitis: 400 mg PO q-12hr for 10 days

- Safe No adequate human data; animal studies showed no harm, and cephalosporins as a class are considered safe. As a pivoxil drug it lowers carnitine, so avoid long courses. Use when needed; no longer marketed in the US.

- Safe A small study found extremely low milk levels (well under 1% of the maternal dose). LactMed: acceptable in nursing mothers; watch the infant for loose stools or thrush.
