Dimethindene competes with histamine for the histamine H1 receptor, reversible competitive inhibitor.

Adults and children above the age of 12 years: the usual daily dose is 3 to 6 mg of Dimethindene maleate, divided over 3 intakes.

- Unknown Oral drops or tablets: no human data; animal studies show no harm. Labels: use only if the benefit outweighs the risk; loratadine or cetirizine have more data and are preferred. Gel: little is absorbed, but avoid large or broken areas of skin.
