Как действует
Sympathomimetic amine that directly agonizes alpha- and beta-adrenergic receptors and indirectly causes norepinephrine release from sympathetic neurons, raising arterial pressure, cardiac output and peripheral resistance.

Clinically important hypotension in the setting of anesthesia: initial 5 mg to 10 mg IV bolus; additional boluses as needed; titrate to blood pressure goal; total not to exceed 50 mg

- Unknown Available human data have not identified a drug-associated risk of major birth defects, miscarriage or adverse outcomes; neonatal metabolic acidosis reported with maternal exposure, so monitor newborn. Animal decreased fetal survival and weight occurred with maternal toxicity.

- Serious postpartum hypertension, some with stroke, reported with vasopressor plus oxytocic; monitor blood pressure carefully.
- Repeated administration can cause tachyphylaxis; have an alternative pressor ready.
- Prophylactic use to prevent hypotension is associated with increased incidence of hypertension compared with treatment of hypotension.
