Как действует
Precise antiepileptic mechanism unknown; in vitro data suggest it modulates sodium channel activity, prolonging the inactive state of the channel.

Lennox-Gastaut Syndrome adjunctive (adults 17 years and older): start 400 to 800 mg per day orally in two equally divided doses; increase by 400-800 mg every other day; maximum 3200 mg per day in two divided doses

- Unknown No adequate human data. In rats and rabbits it caused fetal toxicity and skeletal or visceral changes at maternally toxic doses, and lower pup growth and survival at doses below human exposure. It can reduce hormonal contraceptive effect. Do not stop seizure treatment abruptly.

- Unknown No human milk data. US label: weigh benefits. LactMed: because no information is available and it may be toxic to the infant, an alternative may be preferred, especially with a newborn or preterm infant. If used, watch for drowsiness and poor feeding.

- Antiepileptic drugs increase the risk of suicidal thoughts or behavior; monitor for depression and mood changes.
- CNS reactions (somnolence, fatigue, dizziness, ataxia, gait disturbance); caution with driving or machinery.
- Shortens the QT interval; caution with other QT-shortening drugs.
