Component of two coenzymes necessary for lipid metabolism, tissue respiration, glycogenolysis, inhibition of very low-density lipoprotein (VLDL) synthesis, May increaase chylomicron triglyceride removal from plasma

- Unsafe Vitamin doses: niacin is a normal part of milk; compatible. High-dose niacin for cholesterol: amounts in milk rise with the dose; US label: do not breastfeed during treatment because of possible serious infant effects, including liver toxicity.
