Summary
Both drugs can lower serum potassium, so combined use may produce additive hypokalemia. This is most relevant with systemic budesonide exposure, prolonged therapy, or in patients on cardiac drugs or with other potassium losses. Low potassium may predispose to arrhythmias and muscle weakness.
What this interaction means in plain words
Amphotericin b deoxycholate and Budesonide can affect each other. The combination is often manageable, but it may need a change of dose, a change of timing, or extra checks while both are taken.
Why it happens
Additive renal potassium wasting from amphotericin-induced tubular effects and glucocorticoid mineralocorticoid activity.
What to do
Monitor serum potassium and magnesium during combined therapy and replace as needed. Be especially vigilant with prolonged amphotericin courses or oral or systemic budesonide.
