Summary
Glecaprevir and pibrentasvir inhibit hepatic uptake transporters and may raise exposure to drugs that rely on them. Enalapril and its active metabolite enalaprilat may therefore be present at higher concentrations, with a possible increase in hypotension or renal and potassium effects. The change is expected to be modest.
What this interaction means in plain words
Enalapril and Glecaprevir / pibrentasvir have a small, usually unimportant interaction. Most people can take both; the pharmacist may still mention it so that any unexpected effect is recognised.
Why it happens
Inhibition of OATP1B1/1B3-mediated hepatic uptake by glecaprevir/pibrentasvir may increase enalapril exposure.
What to do
No routine dose change is needed; monitor blood pressure, renal function and serum potassium when starting or stopping the antiviral regimen.
