Summary

What this interaction means in plain words

Hydrochlorothiazide-olmesartan and Salsalate can affect each other. The combination is often manageable, but it may need a change of dose, a change of timing, or extra checks while both are taken.

Evidence level: Moderate

Why it happens

Inhibition of renal prostaglandin synthesis reduces glomerular perfusion and promotes sodium retention.

What to do

Keep patients hydrated and monitor blood pressure, creatinine and potassium. Use the lowest effective salsalate dose or choose an alternative analgesic.
