نحوه اثر
Pyrilamine (mepyramine) is a first-generation ethylenediamine-class antihistamine that acts as an inverse agonist (competitive antagonist) at histamine H1 receptors. It blocks histamine-mediated vasodilation, increased capillary permeability and sensory nerve stimulation, which reduces sneezing, rhinorrhoea and itching.

- Unknown An older sedating antihistamine (mepyramine), often in cold or period-pain combinations. Human data are limited, with no clear link to birth defects. Loratadine, cetirizine or chlorphenamine are preferred; avoid decongestant combinations early in pregnancy.

- Safe Small, occasional doses are not expected to harm the infant (LactMed: probably acceptable). Larger or prolonged doses may sedate the infant or lower milk supply, especially with a decongestant such as pseudoephedrine or before lactation is established. Non-sedating antihistamines are preferred.
