Indications
Mécanisme d'action
Some reports have shown that strontium ranelate can slow down the progression of osteoarthritis of the knee. This agent presents an atypical mechanism of action in which it increases deposition of new bone by osteoblasts and, simultaneously, reduces the resorption of bone by osteoclasts.
Posologie adulte habituelle (résumé de la notice)
The recommended dose is one 2 g sachet once daily by oral administration.
Mode de prise habituel
Simple analgesics are taken by mouth, by rectum or by infusion as needed within a daily maximum that counts every product containing the same ingredient.
Grossesse et allaitement
- Grossesse
- Unknown Only for osteoporosis after menopause (use now restricted; EU marketing stopped). No human data; high doses caused reversible bone effects in rat and rabbit offspring. EU label: if used inadvertently in pregnancy, stop treatment.
- Allaitement
- Unknown Not known in humans; physico-chemical data suggest strontium passes into milk. EU label: should not be used while breastfeeding. No LactMed record. Not indicated in women of breastfeeding age; use calcium and vitamin D measures instead.
Effets indésirables signalés
- Headache
- Insomnia
- Hypercholesterolaemia
- Confusion
- Disturbances in consciousness
Précautions particulières
- Contraindicated in Uncontrolled hypertension.
Paracetamol-type analgesics need care in people with liver disease, chronic alcohol use or low body weight, and the daily limit must include every combination product that contains the same ingredient.
Informez votre pharmacien ou votre médecin en cas de grossesse ou d'allaitement, de maladie rénale ou hépatique, d'allergies, ainsi que de tout autre médicament ou complément que vous prenez.
