Résumé
Nilotinib and droperidol each prolong the QT interval, and together the effect is additive. Droperidol carries a boxed warning for QT prolongation and torsades de pointes, so adding nilotinib increases the arrhythmia risk substantially.
Ce que signifie cette interaction, en termes simples
Droperidol and Nilotinib are not normally used together. Taking them at the same time is expected to cause harm or make one of them unsafe, so a different medicine is usually chosen for one of the two.
Pourquoi elle survient
Additive QT prolongation through blockade of cardiac hERG potassium channels.
Conduite à tenir
Avoid droperidol in patients taking nilotinib and use an antiemetic with less QT effect, such as a non-QT-prolonging alternative. If unavoidable, use only with continuous ECG monitoring and normal electrolytes.
