Résumé
Haloperidol blocks hERG channels and carries a recognised dose-related QTc and torsades de pointes risk, and pimozide has a pronounced dose-related QTc-prolonging effect. Using them together adds to delayed repolarisation and raises the risk of torsades de pointes, especially with hypokalaemia, hypomagnesaemia, bradycardia or structural heart disease.
Ce que signifie cette interaction, en termes simples
Haloperidol and Pimozide are not normally used together. Taking them at the same time is expected to cause harm or make one of them unsafe, so a different medicine is usually chosen for one of the two.
