Hogyan hat
Drug combination of beta-lactamase inhibitor with Cefoperazone, a third-generation cephalosporin, interferes with cell wall synthesis by binding to the penicillin-binding proteins (PBPs), thus preventing cross-linking of nascent peptidoglycan.
Szokásos felnőttadag (alkalmazási előírás szerinti összefoglaló)
2 to 4 g per day (i.e. 1 to 2 g per day cefoperazone activity) given intravenously or intramuscularly in equally divided doses every 12 hours.
Terhesség és szoptatás
- Terhesség
- Safe Cefoperazone and sulbactam: no clear harm in available data, and the ampicillin-sulbactam combination is widely used in pregnancy. Cefoperazone can lower clotting factors. Use when needed, with clotting checks if at risk.
- Szoptatás
- Safe Cefoperazone reaches milk in low amounts; sulbactam passes into milk in small amounts (data from ampicillin-sulbactam). Acceptable; watch the infant for loose stools or thrush.
Jelentett mellékhatások
- Diarrhea
- Transient elevations of the BUN
- neutropenia
Kinek kell óvatosnak lennie
- Clostridium difficile associated diarrhea (CDAD) has been reported with use of nearly all antibacterial agents, including sulbactam sodium/cefoperazone
- As with other antibiotics, overgrowth of non-susceptible organisms may occur during prolonged use of sulbactam/cefoperazone.
