Összefoglaló
Activated charcoal may adsorb some oral acetylcysteine and reduce its absorption, but studies show this has little effect on its efficacy in acetaminophen overdose. Charcoal use should not delay or preclude acetylcysteine therapy.
Mit jelent ez a kölcsönhatás közérthetően
Acetylcysteine and Activated charcoal have a small, usually unimportant interaction. Most people can take both; the pharmacist may still mention it so that any unexpected effect is recognised.
Acetylcysteine belongs to Respiratory; Activated charcoal belongs to Gastrointestinal Tract.
Miért jön létre
Adsorption of oral acetylcysteine to activated charcoal in the gut lumen may reduce its absorption.
Teendő
Give charcoal when indicated and do not withhold acetylcysteine; use intravenous acetylcysteine or monitor response if oral dosing is used, with doses guided by acetaminophen levels.
