Összefoglaló
Barbiturates are enzyme inducers and can substantially reduce etravirine concentrations, risking loss of antiviral efficacy and resistance. Etravirine labeling advises against combination with phenobarbital, and other barbiturates are expected to act similarly.
Mit jelent ez a kölcsönhatás közérthetően
Amobarbital and Etravirine can interact in a way that may be serious. Using them together is sometimes necessary, but it needs a deliberate decision by the prescriber, a plan for monitoring, and clear advice on the warning signs to watch for.
Amobarbital belongs to Central Nervous System; Etravirine belongs to Anti Virals.
Miért jön létre
Induction of CYP3A4, CYP2C9 and CYP2C19 by the barbiturate accelerates etravirine metabolism.
Teendő
Avoid the combination and choose a non-inducing sedative or anticonvulsant. If it cannot be avoided, monitor HIV viral load closely.
