Összefoglaló
Angiotensin receptor blockers reduce aldosterone-mediated potassium excretion, and potassium citrate adds an exogenous potassium load. This can lead to clinically significant hyperkalemia, especially with renal impairment or diabetes.
Mit jelent ez a kölcsönhatás közérthetően
Azilsartan and Potassium citrate-citric acid can affect each other. The combination is often manageable, but it may need a change of dose, a change of timing, or extra checks while both are taken.
Azilsartan belongs to Cardiovascular; Potassium citrate-citric acid belongs to Gastrointestinal Tract.
Miért jön létre
ARB-induced reduction in aldosterone effect decreases renal potassium excretion, adding to the potassium supplied by potassium citrate.
Teendő
Check serum potassium and creatinine before and within the first weeks of combined therapy, then periodically. Reduce or stop potassium citrate if hyperkalemia develops.
Mit kérdezzen a gyógyszerészétől
- Should I take them at different times of day?
- Does the dose of either medicine need to change?
- Is there anything I should avoid, such as alcohol or certain foods, while on both?

Can I take Azilsartan with Potassium citrate-citric acid?
MediHelp rates the interaction as moderate. Azilsartan and Potassium citrate-citric acid can affect each other. The combination is often manageable, but it may need a change of dose, a change of timing, or extra checks while both are taken. Angiotensin receptor blockers reduce aldosterone-mediated potassium excretion, and potassium citrate adds an exogenous potassium load. This can lead to clinically significant hyperkalemia, especially with renal impairment or diabetes.
How serious is the interaction between Azilsartan and Potassium citrate-citric acid?
MediHelp rates it moderate, on a four-level scale (minor, moderate, major, contraindicated) based on published labels and references. What to do, in brief: Check serum potassium and creatinine before and within the first weeks of combined therapy, then periodically. Reduce or stop potassium citrate if hyperkalemia develops.
What other medicines interact with Potassium citrate-citric acid?
MediHelp also lists interactions of Potassium citrate-citric acid with, for example, Amiloride, Eplerenone, Finerenone. The full list is on the Potassium citrate-citric acid page.
