Összefoglaló
Ethiodized oil is an iodinated contrast agent. When given intravascularly (for example lymphography or chemoembolization) it may impair renal function and indirectly promote metformin accumulation and lactic acidosis.
Mit jelent ez a kölcsönhatás közérthetően
Canagliflozin-metformin and Ethiodized oil can interact in a way that may be serious. Using them together is sometimes necessary, but it needs a deliberate decision by the prescriber, a plan for monitoring, and clear advice on the warning signs to watch for.
Miért jön létre
Contrast-related renal impairment reduces metformin excretion, leading to accumulation.
Teendő
Withhold metformin around intravascular administration in patients with renal impairment or high risk, and restart after confirming stable renal function about 48 hours later.
