Összefoglaló

Febuxostat inhibits xanthine oxidase, and didanosine is partly cleared by purine-metabolising pathways, so exposure to didanosine may rise. Higher didanosine levels increase pancreatitis, neuropathy and lactic acidosis.

Mit jelent ez a kölcsönhatás közérthetően

Didanosine and Febuxostat can interact in a way that may be serious. Using them together is sometimes necessary, but it needs a deliberate decision by the prescriber, a plan for monitoring, and clear advice on the warning signs to watch for.

Didanosine belongs to Anti Virals; Febuxostat belongs to Genitourinary.

Bizonyítékszint: Low

Miért jön létre

Possible reduced didanosine clearance via xanthine oxidase inhibition

Teendő

Avoid the combination, or monitor for pancreatitis and neuropathy and reduce the didanosine dose.
