Összefoglaló

Meperidine blocks neuronal serotonin reuptake and, with isocarboxazid, can cause a severe reaction with agitation, hyperthermia, rigidity and sometimes coma or death. The reaction is both serotonergic and, in some cases, hypertensive.

Mit jelent ez a kölcsönhatás közérthetően

Isocarboxazid and Meperidine are not normally used together. Taking them at the same time is expected to cause harm or make one of them unsafe, so a different medicine is usually chosen for one of the two.

Isocarboxazid belongs to Central Nervous System; Meperidine belongs to Musculoskeletal.

Bizonyítékszint: High

Miért jön létre

Serotonergic toxicity (MAO inhibition plus serotonin reuptake block by meperidine)

Teendő

Contraindicated; do not use meperidine within 14 days of an MAO inhibitor and select a non-serotonergic opioid such as morphine with caution.
