Per cosa si usa
Come agisce
Macimorelin stimulates GH release by activating growth hormone secretagogue receptors present in the pituitary and hypothalamus.
Dose abituale nell'adulto (sintesi del foglio illustrativo)
Diagnosis of adult growth hormone deficiency: 0.5 mg/kg as a single oral dose of reconstituted solution, after fasting for at least 8 hours
Gravidanza e allattamento
- Gravidanza
- Unknown Oral test agent for adult growth hormone deficiency, given as a single dose. No human data and no animal reproduction studies; the single dose limits the risk. Testing can usually wait until after pregnancy.
- Allattamento
- Unknown No data on passage into human or animal milk, or effects on the infant or milk supply. US label: weigh the benefits of breastfeeding against the need for the test. A single diagnostic dose means exposure, if any, is brief.
Effetti indesiderati segnalati
- Dysgeusia
- Dizziness
- Headache
- Fatigue
- Nausea
- Hunger
Chi deve prestare attenzione
- QT prolongation: increases QTc by about 11 msec; can lead to torsade de pointes. Avoid drugs that prolong the QT interval.
- Strong CYP3A4 inducers can decrease macimorelin levels and cause false positive results; discontinue and allow washout before testing.
- Recent onset hypothalamic disease may give false negative results; repeat testing may be warranted.
