Per cosa si usa
Come agisce
Dissolves the intracellular cement that causes the hyperkeratotic tissue to swell, macerate, soften, and desquamate. Product is keratolytic at 3-6% and destructive at concentrations >6%; concentrations of 6-60% are used to remove corns and warts in the treatment of psoriasis and other keratotic disorders.
Dose abituale nell'adulto (sintesi del foglio illustrativo)
Liquid (27.5%): Protect surrounding unaffected skin with petrolatum, then apply liquid to each wart and allow to dry before applying a second application; repeat once or twice daily for up to 6 weeks
Gravidanza e allattamento
- Gravidanza
- Safe Topical keratolytic (acne, warts, scaling). Little is absorbed from small areas; low-strength products are considered acceptable in pregnancy. Avoid large areas, high-strength peels, broken skin or occlusion, which give aspirin-like systemic exposure, especially late in pregnancy.
- Allattamento
- Safe Unlikely to be appreciably absorbed or reach milk; LactMed: considered safe during breastfeeding. Do not apply where the infant's skin will touch or where the infant could lick it (e.g. the breast).
Effetti indesiderati segnalati
- Headache
- Stinging
- Dizziness
- Burning of skin
- Tinnitus
Controindicazioni
- 6% gel: hypersensitivity to salicylic acid or any listed ingredient; not for children under 2 years of age.
Chi deve prestare attenzione
- Fluids should be administered to promote urinary excretion; treatment with sodium bicarbonate (oral or intravenous) should be instituted as appropriate
- Where needed, aspirin should be replaced by alternative non-steroidal anti-inflammatory agent that is not salicylate based
- Excessive application of product other than what is needed to cover affected area will not result in a more rapid therapeutic benefit
