Per cosa si usa
Come agisce
Neuroactive steroid GABA A receptor positive modulator; its mechanism in postpartum depression is not fully understood but is thought to be related to positive allosteric modulation of GABA A receptors.
Dose abituale nell'adulto (sintesi del foglio illustrativo)
Postpartum depression: 50 mg orally once daily in the evening for 14 days, with fat-containing food; consider reducing to 40 mg once daily if CNS depressant effects occur; can be used alone or as adjunct to oral antidepressants
Gravidanza e allattamento
- Gravidanza
- Unsafe May cause fetal harm based on animal studies; human data are insufficient. Pregnancy exposure registry exists.
- Allattamento
- Unknown Present in human milk at low levels; relative infant dose <1%. No data on effects on breastfed infant. Weigh benefits of breastfeeding against maternal need.
Effetti indesiderati segnalati
- Somnolence
- Dizziness
- Diarrhea
- Fatigue
- Nasopharyngitis

Avvertenze in evidenza

Patients may not be able to assess their own driving competence or degree of impairment.
Chi deve prestare attenzione
- CNS depressant effects such as somnolence and confusion; higher risk of falls; consider dose reduction or discontinuation.
- Suicidal thoughts and behavior: consider changing regimen, including discontinuing, if depression worsens or suicidality emerges.
- Embryo-fetal toxicity: may cause fetal harm; use effective contraception during treatment and for 1 week after the final dose.
