Sintesi
Baloxavir can bind to polyvalent cations such as iron in the gut, which may lower its absorption and reduce plasma exposure. This could weaken antiviral effect during influenza treatment or prophylaxis. Supporting data come mainly from animal studies.
Cosa significa questa interazione in parole semplici
Baloxavir marboxil and Ferrous gluconate can affect each other. The combination is often manageable, but it may need a change of dose, a change of timing, or extra checks while both are taken.

Perché avviene
Chelation of baloxavir by iron in the gastrointestinal tract reduces its oral absorption.
