Sintesi
Pramlintide given with mealtime insulin increases the risk of severe hypoglycemia, particularly in type 1 diabetes, mostly within the first 3 hours. Pramlintide and insulin must not be mixed in one syringe, as the formulations are not compatible.
Cosa significa questa interazione in parole semplici
Insulin aspart and Pramlintide can interact in a way that may be serious. Using them together is sometimes necessary, but it needs a deliberate decision by the prescriber, a plan for monitoring, and clear advice on the warning signs to watch for.

Perché avviene
Pramlintide slows gastric emptying and suppresses glucagon, adding to the glucose-lowering effect of insulin.
