Factor VIII derived from pooled human plasma, temporarily replaces missing clotting factor VIII which corrects and/or prevents bleeding in patients with hemophilia A

Minor hemorrhage: 15 IU/kg loading dose to achieve FVIII:C plasma level ~30% of normal; THEN may administer half of loading dose qDay or q12hr for 1-2 days if a second infusion necessary

- Unknown No studies in pregnant women and no animal studies. Women who carry haemophilia A or have von Willebrand disease may need factor VIII, mainly around delivery; use when clearly needed under a specialist.

- Unknown No data on milk levels or infant effects. A large protein: milk levels are likely very low and it is probably destroyed in the infant's gut. LactMed: use with caution, especially with a newborn or preterm infant.
