Resumo
Chronic alcohol use impairs thiamine absorption, storage and utilization, and poor diet adds to the risk. This can lead to deficiency, Wernicke encephalopathy and Korsakoff syndrome.
O que esta interação significa em palavras simples
Ethanol and Vitamin b1 can interact in a way that may be serious. Using them together is sometimes necessary, but it needs a deliberate decision by the prescriber, a plan for monitoring, and clear advice on the warning signs to watch for.
Por que acontece
Alcohol inhibits intestinal thiamine transport, reduces hepatic storage and conversion to active forms, and increases loss.
