Drug interaction checker: severity, mechanism and what to do

Check the medicines on a prescription together. Every pair gets a severity, the reason it happens, what to do about it and the references behind it.

Short answer

MediHelp's interaction checker rates each interacting pair on a four-level scale (contraindicated, major, moderate or minor) and shows why it happens, what to do and the references. Brand names are mapped to their generics, so you can type what is on the box. It supports, and does not replace, clinical judgement.

What it does

How to use it

  1. Add the medicines. Enter the brand or generic names from the prescription.
  2. Read the severity first. Start with the contraindicated and major pairs.
  3. Open the mechanism and references. Read what to do and check the source before you act.

Example

You enter
Simvastatin + clarithromycin
You see
Contraindicated: clarithromycin strongly inhibits CYP3A4 and raises simvastatin levels, with a risk of myopathy and rhabdomyolysis. Pause simvastatin during the course or choose another antibiotic.

Where the information comes from

Interaction information comes from official product information such as FDA and EMA labels and the references named on each result. Public interaction pages show the severity and a summary for free; the full management text and the whole-prescription checker need a MediHelp Pro+ plan or trial.
