Rezumat
Ritonavir substantially increases colchicine exposure, and life-threatening or fatal colchicine toxicity has been reported. Toxicity may include severe gastrointestinal illness, rhabdomyolysis, pancytopenia and multiorgan failure. The combination is contraindicated in patients with renal or hepatic impairment and requires major dose reduction in others.

Ritonavir is a potent CYP3A4 and P-glycoprotein inhibitor, which markedly reduces colchicine clearance.
