Rezumat

Isocarboxazid irreversibly inhibits monoamine oxidase, so serotonin is not broken down, and venlafaxine is a serotonin-noradrenaline reuptake inhibitor. Together they can precipitate serotonin syndrome with hyperthermia, agitation, clonus and autonomic instability, which can be fatal.
