Selective 5-HT1 receptor agonist in cranial arteries Causes vasoconstriction and reduces inflammation associated with antidronic neuronal transmission associated with relief of migraine

1-2.5 mg PO at onset; may repeat once after 4 hours, Not to exceed 5 mg/day

Unknown Small registry and cohort data are too few to judge, though triptan registries (mainly sumatriptan) show no rise in birth defects. In animals it caused embryo death and fetal abnormalities at 2.5 to 11 times human exposure. Use only if needed; sumatriptan has the most pregnancy data.
Грудное вскармливание
Unknown No human milk data; present in rat milk. UK label: avoid breastfeeding for 24 hours after a dose. Triptans can occasionally cause painful nipples. LactMed: not a reason to stop breastfeeding an older infant, but an alternative may be preferred with a newborn.
