Summary

Corticosteroids can impair vascular integrity and cause gastric mucosal injury, which may increase bleeding in patients on low molecular weight heparin. Injected triamcinolone into joints or muscle may also cause haematoma in anticoagulated patients.

What this interaction means in plain words

Bemiparin and Triamcinolone can affect each other. The combination is often manageable, but it may need a change of dose, a change of timing, or extra checks while both are taken.

Evidence level: Low

Why it happens

Additive bleeding risk from anticoagulation and corticosteroid effects on mucosa and vessels.

What to do

Monitor for bleeding signs and consider gastroprotection with prolonged steroid use. Check anti-Xa or platelet counts only if clinically indicated; INR is not useful for bemiparin.

What to ask your pharmacist
