Summary
Combining bisoprolol with timolol duplicates beta-blockade, and ophthalmic timolol can still reach the systemic circulation. This may add to bradycardia, hypotension and AV block, and nonselective blockade can worsen bronchospasm.
What this interaction means in plain words
Bisoprolol and Timolol can affect each other. The combination is often manageable, but it may need a change of dose, a change of timing, or extra checks while both are taken.
Bisoprolol belongs to Cardiovascular; Timolol belongs to Cardiovascular.
Why it happens
Additive beta-adrenergic receptor blockade.
What to do
Avoid oral duplication. With timolol eye drops, monitor heart rate and blood pressure, or use a non-beta-blocker glaucoma drug if bradycardia develops.
