What this interaction means in plain words
Carbidopa-entacapone-levodopa and Dobutamine can affect each other. The combination is often manageable, but it may need a change of dose, a change of timing, or extra checks while both are taken.
Carbidopa-entacapone-levodopa belongs to Central Nervous System; Dobutamine belongs to Cardiovascular.
Why it happens
Entacapone inhibits COMT-mediated methylation of catecholamines, reducing dobutamine clearance.
What to do
Titrate dobutamine cautiously and monitor heart rate, rhythm and blood pressure continuously during the infusion. Lower the infusion rate if tachyarrhythmia or hypertension develops.
