Summary
Growth hormone inhibits 11-beta-HSD1, which can reduce conversion of cortisone to active cortisol and may unmask adrenal insufficiency in patients on replacement glucocorticoids. Supraphysiologic glucocorticoid doses can also blunt the growth-promoting effect of growth hormone.
What this interaction means in plain words
Dexamethasone-tobramycin and Somapacitan can affect each other. The combination is often manageable, but it may need a change of dose, a change of timing, or extra checks while both are taken.
Dexamethasone-tobramycin belongs to Anti Bacterial; Somapacitan belongs to Endocrine.
Why it happens
Growth hormone inhibition of 11-beta-HSD1 and pharmacodynamic antagonism of growth effects by glucocorticoids.
What to do
Monitor growth response and adjust the glucocorticoid dose to the lowest effective level. Reassess replacement glucocorticoid needs after starting somapacitan.
