Summary

What this interaction means in plain words
Dexfenfluramine and Phenelzine are not normally used together. Taking them at the same time is expected to cause harm or make one of them unsafe, so a different medicine is usually chosen for one of the two.
Why it happens
Serotonin release plus impaired monoamine breakdown from MAO inhibition leads to excess serotonergic and adrenergic activity.
What to do
Do not combine, and keep at least 14 days between stopping phenelzine and starting dexfenfluramine.
