What this interaction means in plain words
Dextroamphetamine and Paroxetine can interact in a way that may be serious. Using them together is sometimes necessary, but it needs a deliberate decision by the prescriber, a plan for monitoring, and clear advice on the warning signs to watch for.

Why it happens
CYP2D6 inhibition by paroxetine reduces amphetamine clearance, with additive serotonergic and sympathomimetic effects.
What to do
Start dextroamphetamine at a low dose and titrate carefully. Monitor for serotonin syndrome and cardiovascular effects, and stop the drugs if toxicity occurs.
