What this interaction means in plain words
Encorafenib and Quinine can interact in a way that may be serious. Using them together is sometimes necessary, but it needs a deliberate decision by the prescriber, a plan for monitoring, and clear advice on the warning signs to watch for.
Encorafenib belongs to Oncology; Quinine belongs to Anti Parasitic.
Why it happens
Additive QT prolongation; encorafenib CYP3A4 induction may also reduce quinine levels.
What to do
Avoid if possible. If co-use is required, monitor ECG and electrolytes and watch for reduced quinine efficacy.
