What this interaction means in plain words

Formoterol and Hydrochlorothiazide-valsartan can affect each other. The combination is often manageable, but it may need a change of dose, a change of timing, or extra checks while both are taken.

Formoterol belongs to Respiratory; Hydrochlorothiazide-valsartan belongs to Cardiovascular.

Evidence level: Moderate

Why it happens

Beta-2 mediated cellular potassium uptake adds to thiazide-induced renal potassium loss.

What to do

Monitor serum potassium, especially in patients with severe asthma or COPD or those using higher doses of formoterol. Replace potassium as needed.
