Summary

Supraphysiologic glucocorticoid doses can attenuate the growth-promoting effect of somatrogon. Growth hormone analogs also inhibit 11-beta-HSD1, which may reduce cortisol activation and unmask hypoadrenalism in patients on replacement therapy.

What this interaction means in plain words

Hydrocortisone and Somatrogon can affect each other. The combination is often manageable, but it may need a change of dose, a change of timing, or extra checks while both are taken.

Hydrocortisone belongs to Endocrine; Somatrogon belongs to Endocrine.

Evidence level: Moderate

Why it happens

Glucocorticoids antagonize growth hormone action, and growth hormone inhibits 11-beta-HSD1.

What to do

Titrate glucocorticoid replacement after starting somatrogon and increase doses if signs of cortisol deficiency appear. Keep glucocorticoid dosing as low as possible and track growth.

What to ask your pharmacist
