What this interaction means in plain words

Ibrutinib and Venlafaxine can affect each other. The combination is often manageable, but it may need a change of dose, a change of timing, or extra checks while both are taken.

Ibrutinib belongs to Oncology; Venlafaxine belongs to Central Nervous System.

Evidence level: Low

Why it happens

Additive impairment of platelet function through BTK inhibition and reduced platelet serotonin storage.

What to do

Monitor for bruising, melena and other bleeding, and check blood counts periodically. Reassess the need for additional antiplatelet or anticoagulant drugs and consider gastroprotection in higher-risk patients.
