Summary

Pazopanib absorption depends on acidic gastric pH, and the H2 antagonist famotidine can lower its exposure and possibly reduce efficacy. Ibuprofen itself does not meaningfully affect this.

What this interaction means in plain words

Ibuprofen / famotidine and Pazopanib can affect each other. The combination is often manageable, but it may need a change of dose, a change of timing, or extra checks while both are taken.

Evidence level: Moderate

Why it happens

Famotidine raises gastric pH, decreasing the solubility and absorption of pazopanib.

What to do

If acid suppression is needed, use a short-acting antacid separated from pazopanib by several hours, or give pazopanib at least 2 hours before and 10 hours after famotidine. Monitor response to pazopanib.

What to ask your pharmacist
