Summary
Pentobarbital induces CYP3A4 and other enzymes, which may lower tolterodine exposure. The effect is generally modest since CYP2D6 is the main route, but could be more important in poor CYP2D6 metabolizers. Additive sedation is also possible.
What this interaction means in plain words
Pentobarbital and Tolterodine have a small, usually unimportant interaction. Most people can take both; the pharmacist may still mention it so that any unexpected effect is recognised.
Why it happens
Enzyme induction by pentobarbital increases tolterodine metabolism.
What to do
Monitor for reduced bladder symptom control. Adjust tolterodine dose if response is lost.
