Indications
Mécanisme d'action
Purified polypeptide of recombinant human growth hormone Human growth hormone plays a role in the growth of linear bone, skeletal muscle, and organs by stimulating chondrocyte proliferation and differentiation. It also stimulates erythropoietin.
Posologie adulte habituelle (résumé de la notice)
GHD (Norditropin): 0.004 mg/kg daily and may increase the dose according to individual patient requirements to up to 0.016 mg/kg daily
Grossesse et allaitement
- Grossesse
- Unknown Limited human data are insufficient to judge risk; decades of use have not shown a drug-related risk, and animals showed no fetal harm at about 20 times human doses. The placenta makes its own growth hormone, so treatment is often stopped in pregnancy; specialist advice.
- Allaitement
- Safe Treatment does not raise normal milk growth hormone levels, and no adverse effects have been seen in breastfed infants (US label, LactMed). Acceptable while breastfeeding. Avoid diluents with benzyl alcohol; use preservative-free saline.
Effets indésirables signalés
- Edema
- Arthralgia
- Peripheral edema
- Myalgia
- Leg Edema
- Infection (non-viral)
Contre-indications
- Acute critical illness after open heart surgery, abdominal surgery or multiple accidental trauma, or acute respiratory failure (risk of increased mortality).
- Pediatric patients with Prader-Willi syndrome who are severely obese, have a history of upper airway obstruction or sleep apnea, or have severe respiratory impairment (risk of sudden death).
- Active malignancy.
Précautions particulières
- When somatropin is administered SC at same site over long period of time, tissue atrophy may result; may avoid by rotating injection site
- Cases of pancreatitis reported; pediatric patients possibly at a greater risk compared to adults
- Contraindicated in active proliferative or severe non-proliferative diabetic retinopathy
