Résumé
Balsalazide is delivered to the colon and releases mesalamine, a salicylate-related compound. Combining it with aspirin may add salicylate exposure, and aspirin could compete for renal tubular secretion of metabolites. The clinical effect is generally small, but renal function should be considered.
