Résumé
Sildenafil markedly potentiates the hypotensive effect of nitrates, including rectal glyceryl trinitrate. Profound and potentially fatal hypotension, syncope or myocardial ischemia can occur.

Glyceryl trinitrate pr and Sildenafil are not normally used together. Taking them at the same time is expected to cause harm or make one of them unsafe, so a different medicine is usually chosen for one of the two.
Pourquoi elle survient
Nitrates raise cGMP via nitric oxide and sildenafil blocks its breakdown by PDE5, causing exaggerated vasodilation.
Conduite à tenir
Do not combine. If a nitrate is needed after sildenafil, withhold it for at least 24 hours and give only under medical supervision.
