Hogyan hat
Anti-inflammatory agent; mesalamine (5-aminosalicylic acid) is the active component of sulfasalazine, but specific MOA is unknown; probably inhibits prostaglandin and leukotriene synthesis and release in colon.
Szokásos felnőttadag (alkalmazási előírás szerinti összefoglaló)
Ulcerative Colitis (Pentasa): 1 g/day orally four times daily for up to 8 weeks.
Terhesség és szoptatás
- Terhesség
- Safe Meta-analyses and cohort studies show no reliable link with birth defects, miscarriage or poor outcomes; no harm in animals. Active ulcerative colitis itself raises pregnancy risks, so continue treatment.
- Szoptatás
- Safe Passes into milk in small amounts (mesalamine 0.1% or less of the maternal dose; more of an inactive metabolite). A few infants had diarrhoea. LactMed: not a reason to stop breastfeeding; watch the infant for diarrhoea.
Jelentett mellékhatások
