Összefoglaló
Amoxapine has dopamine-blocking activity through its metabolite and can cause extrapyramidal symptoms and tardive dyskinesia. Combined with metoclopramide the risk of these movement disorders and neuroleptic malignant syndrome is increased.
Mit jelent ez a kölcsönhatás közérthetően
Amoxapine and Metoclopramide can interact in a way that may be serious. Using them together is sometimes necessary, but it needs a deliberate decision by the prescriber, a plan for monitoring, and clear advice on the warning signs to watch for.
Miért jön létre
Additive central dopamine D2 receptor antagonism.
Teendő
Avoid the combination where possible and choose an antiemetic without dopamine antagonism. If unavoidable, monitor for dystonia, akathisia, parkinsonism and rigidity.
