Atazanavir is a strong CYP3A4 inhibitor and markedly raises eletriptan exposure, increasing the risk of vasoconstrictive and other triptan adverse effects. Eletriptan labeling contraindicates use within 72 hours of potent CYP3A4 inhibitors, including HIV protease inhibitors.

Atazanavir and Eletriptan are not normally used together. Taking them at the same time is expected to cause harm or make one of them unsafe, so a different medicine is usually chosen for one of the two.
